These Things They will Come

from Songbirds by Kate Dimbleby

/

about

Also known as "Hold on". I wrote when I was living on the west coast of Canada. I was incredibly inspired by the ancient forest in that part of the world and this felt like a spiritual really. It's also a really good song to walk and sing.

lyrics

I went to my doctor and to her I said
How long will it be doctor
I went to my doctor and to her I said
How long will it be?

She said hold on, hold on
These things they will come
She said hold on, hold on
These things they will come

Then I went to my mother to her I cried
How long will it be mother ?
I went to my mother
To her I cried
How long will it be

She said
hold on, hold on
These things they will come
She said hold on, hold on
These things they will come

I went to my sister to her I cried
How long sister, how long will it be?

She said
hold on, hold on
These things they come to us all
She said hold on, hold on
These things they will come

I went to the children
To them I said
How long children
How long will it be?
